GOLD medal winning Ellie Simmonds will have her very own Royal Mail stamp printed in honour of her awesome world record beating swim at the Paralympics 2012.
Ellie Simmonds, from Aldridge, near Walsall, will also have a post-box painted in gold in her home town tomorrow after she stormed to victory in the S6 400m freestyle final.
The whole nation cheered on the 17-year-old on Saturday night as she set a new world record in an incredible win.
Ellie Simmonds stamp will go on sale tomorrow at over 500 Post Offices around the country.
Mr Simmonds said: “That was the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen her do.
“The 400-metre world record has got Eleanor Simmonds’ name written all over it and she wanted it back. It was the top of her Christmas list and she’s got it.”
Mr Simmonds praised the “unreal atmosphere” inside the centre which he believed helped Ellie in her quest for a third Paralympic gold.
He added: “There were seriously loud noises for all the British athletes. It was an unreal atmosphere. I think the encouragement from the crowd will have made a difference.”
Royal Mail has committed to creating stamps and painting post boxes for Team GB athletes winning Gold in the Olympic and Paralympic games.
A spokesman said four boxes have been painted around the UK this Sunday.
