Tardis Environmental are used to helping on the big projects going on in London, such as the Olympics and the cross rail project and the Thames Gateway development is another project we are happy and proud to be helping out with.
For those who don’t know the Thames Gateway is the UK’s largest development programme, it aims to provide London with the space to grow. The project continues the growth of greater London and the southeast, this growth is crucial to the future prosperity to the Greater South East and the United Kingdom as a whole.
Background
The Thames Gateway is the latest indicator of the renewal of the Thames Estuary. Together with the Government’s plan to rebalance the economy of the UK/England, it is the Thames Gateway that offers the chance to enable sustained development of London and the South East. It is an area with supreme growth potential, presenting a range of opportunities including:
- Proximity to London
- Transport links via the Channel Tunnel Rail Link to Europe and the rest of the UK
- Significant volume of brownfield land that could be redeveloped for housing and business
- The presence of key sites with the potential to provide significant numbers of new job
Compared to the rest of the Greater South East the Thames Gateway is still lagging behind in economic terms.
There are several key projects that will deliver significant growth in the Thames Gateway and involve cross-Government facilitation:
Stratford and the Olympic Park – The Government is investing £9.3 billion in London 2012 related projects
London Gateway – The investment of £1.5 billion by DP World will generate 36,000 jobs in total – of which 12,000 jobs will be created in the medium/long term.
Crossrail Project – Work has started on the £16 billion Crossrail link, which joins the Thames Gateway with central London
While helping with the redevelopment of the Thames Gateway we have provided portable toilet hire, regular water fills, and tank emptying.
