Yesterday saw the closing ceremony of the Olympics take place, and what a show it was! With the games officially being passed over the Brazil we in the UK, event organisers, business and everyone else can breathe a massive sigh of relief that nothing went wrong and can hold our heads high as our athletes have done us proud!
It was one the best performances Britain has accomplished at an Olympic games, and in terms of the whole event in general critics from around the world are calling it one of the best Olympics ever organised.
From the opening ceremony, countless rowing medals, Jess Ennis winning gold, Greg Rutherford winning gold, Mo Farah winning gold, gymnastic silvers, Boris Johnson getting stuck on a zip line this Olympics has been one of the best ever.
Another major factor into the success of London 2012 was that of the volunteers, all 70,000 odd of them played their part, and even the smallest job probably had a bigger impact than they thought, and who can forget the vital role the army came in and played, swooping in to save the day keeping all events safe.
UK Businesses also played a huge part in the Olympics from constructing the epic stadiums, to producing flags and we at Tardis are proud to say we helped make the Olympics the spectacle it was. From our range of portable toilets to hire providing sanitation solutions, our waste tanks storing effluent, to our Tardis tankers doing tank emptying and welfare servicing all playing their part in ensuring everything ran smoothly.
With this being one of the busiest years the portable toilet hire industry has seen, with nearly every enquiry being something to do with the Olympics, we too are wondering what next? Will the legacy of the Olympics live on as planned? Do people appreciate portable toilets more? Will the Spice Girls reform?
Only time will tell but hopefully the first two happen
